Marmotte Granfondo Pyrenees
25/08/2019 - 165km - 5500m/d+
The Marmotte Granfondo Pyrénées has everything of a Marmotte! A long distance route (165 km), difficult ascent (5500 m/D+), hors catégorie passes (Tourmalet pass, Hautacam) and breathtaking sceneries.
After 3 successful editions, the Marmotte Granfondo Pyrénées is already shining on the international plan, and it won’t need a long time to become famous like its Alpine big sister.
Supported by the "communauté de communes Pyrénées vallées des Gaves", the Department of Hautes-Pyrénées and villages of Argelès-Gazost and Luz-Saint-Sauveur, this race will lead you through the most wonderful passes of Pyrenees (Tourmalet, Hourquette d’Ancizan, Aspin) and end in Hautacam.
Marmotte Granfondo Pyrenees
You start from Luz St Sauveur and enjoy the greatest passes and peaks of the Pyrénées. After a loop in Luz to warm up, you go straight to the Tourmalet pass (2115m) by Barèges. You deal with a technical downhill on the path to Sainte Marie de Campan then comes the second difficulty of the race: la Hourquette d’Ancizan (1564m). Short rest, it is already time to face the Aspin pass (1489m) and go back to Ste Marie. Your legs are tired but you are already climbing the impressive Tourmalet. Ultimate difficulty to say the least, qualified like a hors-catégorie pass, you have to fight the 15 km to reach the peak of Hautacam (1520m) and become a Finisher.
